Version 1.0. Effective date: October 1, 2026. Operator: John Critchley, Quebec, Canada. Person responsible for the protection of personal information: John Critchley. Privacy contact: [email protected].
This explains what personal information the service collects, why, who can see it and how long we keep it. We have tried to keep it short and honest.
What we collect
Account: your email address, username and password. We never store your password itself, only a one-way scrambled form of it (a hash).
Sign-in: a random code stored in a cookie in your browser to keep you signed in (30 days). It is needed for the service to work. We store only a scrambled form of it on our side.
Your games: the maps, pictures, tokens, notes, character sheets, dice rolls and chat messages, including private whispers, so the game can be saved and continued. In each game the latest 200 public chat messages and the latest 200 private whispers are kept, so players and the DM can look back, and they are all deleted when the game is deleted.
Access requests: if you ask for an invite on the sign-in screen, the name, email address and message you give. They are used only to reply and are deleted after 90 days.
Characters you save to your account.
Pictures you upload.
Usage records: when you log in, join, leave or create a game, and how long you played. These are kept for 90 days. We also keep when you were last active.
Feedback you send us, and the page you sent it from.
Technical data: to run and protect the service our hosting provider (see below) sees your network address. We do not keep a log of network addresses ourselves.
Preferences stored in your browser (for example which tours you have seen, the width of the sidebars, which panels are folded). These stay on your device and are not sent to us.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, we do not sell personal information, and we do not collect payment details (there are no payments yet).
Why we use it
To run your account and games, keep the service secure, stop misuse, answer your messages, understand how much the service is used, and meet legal duties.
Who can see it
Other players in your game see your username, your tokens, what you say in the chat that is meant for them, and anything the DM shows them. Whispers go only to the people they are addressed to and are stored on our server.
The operator can see account details, which games exist and who is in them, usage statistics and feedback. The people who run the service can technically read the contents of any game, including whispers. We do not do this routinely. We may look when needed to run or fix the service, protect people, deal with a report, or because the law requires.
Voice chat: if you join voice, your voice travels directly between you and the other players and is not recorded by us. The other players can see your network address while connected. A public server (run by Google) helps set up the connection and sees that a connection is being set up.
Cloudflare, which carries traffic to our server, handles your traffic and sees your network address.
We do not give personal information to anyone else unless the law requires it.
Where it is kept
On a server in Quebec, Canada. Cloudflare and visitors' devices may be elsewhere in the world, so some information passes through other countries.
How long we keep it
Your account and games until you ask us to delete them or you delete them. Usage records 90 days. Backups are kept for 30 days and then removed. Sign-in codes expire after 30 days.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account and the games you run ([email protected]). You can export any game yourself. You can complain to the privacy regulator where you live.
Children
The service is for people aged 16 and over. If you think a younger child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.
Security
See the Security Statement. No system is perfectly safe, and we cannot promise it. If a breach could harm you we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
Changes
We will tell you in the service before a change that matters, and keep older versions on request.
